Bittersweet is the word for the day

Yesterday the House of Representatives passed SB 2001 - but not before the onerous abortion reporting language was gutted and replaced by an amendment that provided a medical health exception for women regarding the new ultrasound law, from legislation that was passed earlier this month. This was a shocking development indeed.

So as confused as we are right now, this is a bittersweet moment.

Since the session is far from being over, we cannot know what other anti-choice language might find its way into a bill. We will keep you up to date on any legislation that might appear and on actions that need to be taken.

Do you know what the justification for passing the SB 2001 bill was? And do you also know if EVERY woman preparing for an abortion MUST receive an ultrasound, whether it be vaginal or abdominal?
If the answer to my second question is yes, I am completely horrified by this new law.
I live in North Texas and am very concerned for the well-being of Oklahoma women. Please tell me what actions I could take to keep Oklahoma pro-choice, despite being a Texas citizen.

SB 2001 was a lot worse, seems like they grew a conscience and added an emergency exception. Yes, every woman must have one or the other "which ever gives a clearer picture". We appeciate any help passing on this blog to others to keep up to date on these bad bills...
